The boy's grandfather is described by police as 50-year-old Morris β€œTommy” Lundy, of New York, police said. He is 5 feet 10 inches tall, 150 pounds, African American male, with hazel eyes and is clean-shaven, Assistant Prosecutor Angelo OnofriΒ said.Β Onofri said the grandfather's hair is shorter than that described in the original amber alert. Authorities believe the grandfather may be headed north, toward New York state, according to the alert.

West Windsor Police Lt.Β Robert Garofalo said David Lundy was about to be removed from the home he shared with his aunt on Meadow Road by New Jersey's Department of Youth of Families, after both she and the boy's grandfather were determined not to be suitable guardians.

West Windsor police do not believe Lundy to be a physical threat to his grandson, according Times of Trenton report on nj.com Saturday. However, Onofri told the Times there are health concerns because the boy suffers from a chronic illness.

Search teams were active in West Windsor Saturday morning, near where authorities say the boy was last seen walking with his grandfather. Onofri described the search as proactive.

At 10:50 a.m. Saturday, a volunteer emergency worker at the search scene said fire crews had conducted sweeps through the woods near the boy's home. Searchers walked shoulder to shoulder in a line through the woods near the apartment complex, the volunteerΒ said, but nothing was found and volunteers were leaving the scene to law enforcement personnel.

According to the prosecutor's office, the search, which began with a 7 p.m. alert Friday night, includes personnel from the New Jersey State Police, FBI, Mercer County Sheriff's Office, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and West Windsor Township Police. Local residences and businesses were being canvassed and police K-9 units were deployed.

Onofri said a silver Volvo, originally believed connected to the incident, was no longer an object of the search.

Anyone with information about the child’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately. If you have more information about the abduction, contact the West Windsor Police Department atΒ 609-799-1222.
