ENGLEWOOD, NJ — With the motto "Neighbors Helping Neighbors," an Englewood nonprofit raised $148,000 at a golf outing and gala that will provide competitive grants to other community nonprofits responding to increased need for services created by the coronavirus pandemic, the nonprofit said in a June 30 news release.
The Community Chest of Eastern Bergen County raised the grant funds at its second outing at White Beeches Golf & Country Club in Haworth, and a gala, hosted by award-winning TV journalist Harry Martin, at Montammy Golf Club in Alpine.
Funds will be awarded to nonprofits targeting health, food insecurity, learning loss recovery, college preparation, and support for seniors and other at-risk populations.
