Man Killed In Police-Involved Shooting After 3 Found Stabbed In Bergen County: AG's Office
A man holding a knife at the scene of stabbed victims was shot by an officer during a confrontation, and later died, the AG's office said.
ENGLEWOOD, NJ – An officer-involved shooting last week that resulted in the death of a 22-year-old man in Englewood is under investigation, the New Jersey Attorney General's Office said.
Bernard Placide, identified as the decedent, was found carrying a knife at the scene of three stabbed victims, in a Sept. 3 incident at an Englewood residence, the AG's office said.
Police responded to a domestic violence disturbance call at 8:12 a.m. and observed Placide. A confrontation occurred, and officer Luana Sharpe fired her duty weapon once, striking Placide. Another officer, Brian Havlicek, had shot him with a stun gun, the AG's office said.

Police and emergency personnel rendered first aid, and Placide was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead approximately an hour after the encounter.
The three wounded victims have been treated and released from an area hospital.

A knife was recovered at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing and no further information is being released at this time.
