Annual 9/11 Remembrance Planned in Englewood

Mayor to update community on monument plans.

City officials, emergency responders and religious leaders will come together Tuesday to commemorate the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Mayor Frank Huttle III will also provide an update on plans to build a permanent monument, using steel from the World Trade Center, in the city.

“As the tragic events of September 11th that shaped this City and our Nation become more distant in time, it is all the more important that we pause to remember those brave individuals whose lives were cut short and ensure that their memories live on in our hearts and minds,” the mayor said in a statement.

“In what has become a tradition in Englewood, the program will honor the memories of the Englewood residents who lost their lives in the September 11th attacks as well as the emergency service personnel who responded,” the statement said.

The memorial will be held at Veterans Memorial Park, starting at 5:30 p.m. The event will be moved to BergenPAC in case of rain.
