Woman Shot In Stomach, Left By Road On Christmas Eve In Morris County, Police Say
A Georgia man has been charged in the shooting of the woman, who was found curled in the fetal position by the road, police said.
BOONTON, NJ — A Georgia man has been charged in connection with the shooting of a woman who was found injured by the side of the road on Christmas Eve, authorities said Saturday.
Jovan Young, 37, whose last known address was in Jonesboro, Georgia, was arrested on Christmas in Boonton, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said.
The woman was found shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve lying on the side of the road at the intersection of Old Boonton Road and Pocono Road in Denville, the prosecutor's office said.

She was found lying in the fetal position with an apparent gunshot wound to her abdomen and was taken to an area hospital for treatment, the prosecutor's office said.
They have not identified the woman other than to say she also is from Georgia. Both the victim and Young have ties to New Jersey, the prosecutor's office said.

Authorities found the woman had been with Young earlier in the day, the prosecutor's office said.
When Young was arrested, officers recovered a 9mm handgun and multiple magazines loaded with hollow-point cartridges, the prosecutor's office said.
Young has been charged with third-degree endangering an injured person; second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose; second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon; fourth-degree possession of hollow-point cartridges; and fourth-degree certain persons not to have weapons or ammunition, the prosecutor's office said. He is being held in the Morris County jail pending a detention hearing.
