Bergen County Announces Hazardous Waste Collection Dates

The first collection is scheduled for Saturday, March 12 at the Bergen County Utilities Authority facility in Moonachie.

The first hazardous waste collection event of the year is scheduled for Saturday, March 12 at the Bergen County Utilities Authority (BCUA) facility in Moonachie from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The BCUA has scheduled eight hazardous waste collection events in 2016 at one of three collection sites throughout Bergen County.

“Our hazardous waste collection efforts are part of a commitment to Bergen County residents and families,” said BCUA Executive Director Robert Laux. “Over the years, the BCUA’s efforts have helped to properly dispose of millions of pounds of hazardous materials from local homes.”

A complete listing of schedules and regulations is available through the BCUA website. The BCUA has organized waste collection events throughout the year at the BCUA facility in Moonachie, Bergen County Community College (BCC) in Paramus and Campgaw Mountain Reservation in Mahwah.

“We encourage residents to check the BCUA website to learn more about the dates, times, and locations and help spread the word about these collection events,” said Laux.

Additional collection will be held at BCC on Sundays, April 17, June 26 and Oct. 16. There will also be collection at Campgaw Mountain Reservation on Saturdays, May 14, July 23 and Sept. 10. The BCUA has scheduled a fall collection for Saturday, Nov. 12. Individuals seeking further information are instructed to contact (201) 807-5825. The service is free of charge for Bergen County residents with a valid ID.
