Danbury Police Host Drug Take Back Day

Drug Take Back Day takes place Saturday, April 30.

From the City of Danbury:

Saturday, April 30 is Drug Take Back Day at Danbury police headquarters, located at 375 Main St., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The mission is to protect children, families and the environment by properly disposing of unwanted and expired medicines. Medicines in the home are a leading cause of accidental poisoning, and flushed or trashed medicines can end up polluting the waters. Rates of prescription drug abuse are alarmingly high; more than half of teens abusing medicines get them from a family member or friend, including the home medicine cabinet, and often without their knowledge.

Drugs and other items not accepted during Drug Take Back Day are sharps, needles and syringes as well as any chemotherapeutic (e.g. cytotoxic/antineoplastic drugs) and radioactive medications (e.g. radiopharmaceuticals and tracers).
