Englewood Man Charged With Stabbing Over Unleashed Dogs
Dogs jumped on the victim before slashing, authorities say.

A 53-year-old Englewood man was arrested Thursday after stabbing a neighbor in a fight over unleashed dogs, city police said.
Larry Dungey was walking his two unleashed dogs on Shepard Avenue, near the Teaneck border, when they jumped on the 22-year-old victim as he sat on the porch of a multi-family house they shared, according to Englewood Detective Capt. Tim Torell.
An argument ensued and Dungey pulled a knife, lunged at the victim and stabbed him in the hand, Torell said in a statement Saturday. The wounded man was able to wrestle the knife away before his friend showed up and another fight broke out between the three.

Two Teaneck detectives who were in the area subdued the men and seized the 6-inch knife until Englewood police arrived, Torell said.
"We work very closely with Teaneck PD and this kind of cooperation between our two departments is not unusual," he said. "It’s dangerous work. Who knows what could have happened if not for the quick response and getting that knife out of the equation.”

Dungey was charged with one count of second degree aggregated assault, one count of fourth degree possession of a weapon, one count of third degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and one count of fourth degree possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
Records show Dungey has convictions for burglary. He was released Saturday on $55,000 bail, according to the sheriff's office.
