Englewood Man Killed In NJ Turnpike Crash: Police

The truck the man was in overturned and burst into flames near exit 13a early this morning.

ENGLEWOOD, NJ — A city man died Wednesday when the truck he was driving overturned and collapsed on a concrete median on the NJ Turnpike, police said.

Cristian Vergara, 22, was the driver, police said.

According to Vergara's Facebook page, he was a graduate of the Academies@Englewood. He worked for Hollister.

Police found an overturned milk truck on the northbound side of the turnpike near exit 13A around 1:40 a.m.; the truck struck a concrete barrier, flipped over, and burst into flames, police said. (See related: Victim ID'd In NJ Turnpike Fatal Crash As Truck Overturns: Cops)

Vergara was killed and milk spilled onto the turnpike, police said.

The truck's trailer wound up on one side of the barrier, the cabin the other, police said. Authorities are investigating the crash.
