Ex-Englewood Cliffs Top Cop Gets $587K Settlement: Report

Former Police Chief Michael Cioffi was recordered saying he would 'like to kill' Council President Carrol McMorrow.

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ — Ex-Police Chief Michael Cioffi received more than $587,000 after he retired last month and settled a federal lawsuit he filed against the town, according to a report by NorthJersey.com.

Cioffi will plead guilty to conduct unbecoming an officer, according to the report. He will also face a 90-day suspension, which will be deducted from his accrued time off.

Cioffi came under fire last year for recording himself saying he would like to kill then-borough Council President Carrol McMorrow.

"I'd like to kill her, but I can't do that," Cioffi said on the recording. "She is one hell of a b----."
