New Council Member Appointed in Englewood Cliffs
Borough's longest serving member stepped down last month

The Englewood Cliffs council has appointed Nora Jobson to fill the seat of Ilan Plawker, the body's longest serving member who resigned last month.
According to a report on NorthJersey.com, the council voted 4-0 to appoint Jobson, a Democrat. Jobson lost a bid for election to the governing body last fall.
Plawker resigned, citing health problems and increasing responsibilities as vice president of the state's Board of Education, the report said. He was on the borough's governing body for 18 years and served as the police commissioner.

The council's only Republican, Ramon Ferro, abstained from voting in Jobson's selection.
“I’m extremely honored to serve out his term,” Jobson said in the report. “I do it with a very, very, very heavy heart.”
