Police Promise 'Ongoing Vigilance' After Terrorists Release Video Threatening Malls

Though nothing suggests any of Paramus' malls may be targeted, the Paramus Police Chief said local police are operating with awareness.

After a video released by a Somali-based militant group with al-Qaeda ties threatened to attack malls in the U.S., Paramus police have promised “ongoing vigilance” to retails centers throughout the area.

Though nothing suggests any of Paramus’ malls may be targeted, Paramus Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said local police are operating with awareness, NJ.com reported.

The Chief also said that in order to make sure malls are safe, local police departments work with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, Bergen County Sheriff’s Department and state Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness.

Al-Shabaab, who released the video, said it was responsible for the 2013 attack at a Kenya mall that left more than 60 people dead.
