Cops: Home Intruder Posed as Landscaper from Fictitious Fair Lawn Company

Upon being confronted by a resident who was home at the time, the suspect said he was from the bogus company "Fair Lawn Landscaping," according to police.

An 18-year-old Glen Rock woman discovered an intruder peering down on her from the stairs of her South Maple Avenue home Sunday afternoon, according to .

The woman was home alone when she heard a knock at the door at 2:25 p.m., Cpt. Jonathan Miller said. The woman did not open the door and less than five minutes later discovered the intruder, described as a Hispanic male in his mid-20s, in the hallway at the top of the stairs, Miller said.

The resident asked who he was and according to the report, he told her he was with "Fair Lawn Landscaping".

She called her mother to see if anyone was scheduled to arrive at the house and upon hearing no appointment was scheduled, asked the man to leave. He complied without incident, Miller reported. The intruder entered the home through an unlocked door, according to police.

Police were dispatched to search for the man but he was not found, Miller said. No record of a company with the name "Fair Lawn Landscaping" could be found.

No valuables of the home were found to be disturbed, Miller said. Police are investigating the incident.
