Landscaping Truck Strikes House on Bellair and Essex

Police say landscaping truck driver ran stop sign, also struck car

Saturday morning started with a bang for one homeowner after a landscaping truck struck the side of a house on the corner of Essex Place and Bellair Avenue about 10:30 Saturday morning.

Police on the scene said the driver of a red landscaping truck was driving north on Essex Place, ran the stop sign and collided with a blue sedan at the intersection of Bellair Avenue. The sedan, which suffered extensive front-end damage, puttered to a stop on Essex Place while the landscaping truck careened into the side of the house.

The driver of the landscaping truck–Javier's Landscaping based out of Paterson–complained of an arm injury. Police said no other injuries were reported.

Fair Lawn firefighters were on the scene cleaning antifreeze on the street, while tow trucks carted away the damaged vehicles. Building Department officials were assessing damage to the house, and police said citations have not yet been issued as the investigation continues.
