Vehicle Crashes Into Fair Lawn TD Bank Branch: Police

Police believe the man had a 'medical episode' before the crash.

FAIR LAWN, NJ — A vehicle crashed into the outside of the TD Bank branch at 23-40 Maple Ave. Thursday morning, police said.

Police arrived at the bank just before 8:30 a.m. and found the 59-year-old driver of a 2003 Ford Escape unresponsive, said Sgt. Brian Metzler.

A witness reported that the Escape was parked in front of the bank when it "abruptly" drove forward into the front brick wall of the bank and then reversed back into the parking space, Metzler said.

A witness entered the vehicle and put it into park, Metzler said.

Police believe the driver had a "medical episode" before the Escape crashed into the bank.

The driver was taken to St. Joseph's Medical Center in Paterson. The bank suffered no structural damage and is open, Metzler said.
