• Oyster Reefs Expanded In Barnegat, Great Bays (jerseyshoreonline.com) — Forked River residents are at the center of a major oyster reef expansion that aims to boost water quality and marine habitat in nearby Barnegat and Great Bays. Local shellfish farmers, Stockton University, and conservation partners have planted about 435,000 young oysters on two Ocean County reefs, part of a multi-year COASTAL Aquaculture Project to restore coastal ecosystems and support the regional seafood industry.
