Memorial Day is more than just a three-day weekend—it’s a time to reflect and honor those who have served our country, those who continue to serve, and those who have been wounded in service. About Town has a listing of area parades and events for Memorial Day:

What: Fort Lee V.F.W. Memorial Day Service

  • Where: V.F.W. 250 Main Street
  • When: 11 a.m.
  • Why: Because the V.F.W. is also honoring the Fort Lee Fire Dept. for saving their building during a fire in 2007; hot dogs and beverages for everyone in attendance.  

What: Englewood Memorial Day Parade

  • Where: Soldier's Monument, West Palisade Avenue, Englewood
  • When: 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Why: Veterans, local volunteers, youth groups, bands, & more.

What: Leonia Memorial Day Parade

  • Where: Broad Avenue, Leonia to Wood Park
  • When: 11:30 a.m.
  • Why: Parade ends with wreath-laying ceremony at Wood Park; hot dogs and beverages for everyone at American Legion Hall.

What: Bergenfield Memorial Day Parade

  • Where: West Church Street & North Prospect Avenue, Bergenfield
  • When: 2:30 p.m. 
  • Why: Because if it’s Bergenfield, and there will be bagpipes!

What: Hasbrouck Heights Memorial Day Parade

  • Where: Terrace Avenue, Hasbrouck Heights
  • When: 10 a.m. 
  • Why: Because Terrace Avenue is a great place to watch a parade.

What: Franklin Lakes Memorial Day Parade

  • Where: Veterans Plaza, Franklin Avenue, Franklin Lakes
  • When: 9 a.m.
  • Why: You just might spot a “Housewife.”

What: Washington Township Memorial Day Parade

  • Where: Town Hall Pascack Road, Washington Township
  • When: 10 a.m.
  • Why: A ceremony follows the parade to honor those who have served and those who are currently serving.

What: Wyckoff Memorial Day Parade

  • Where: Cornerstone Church, 495 Wyckoff Avenue & Wyckoff Community Park, Wyckoff
  • When: 11:30 a.m.
  • Why: The parade’s theme is “Remember Our Wounded Warriors,” and there will be memorial services for both veteran’s and deceased firemen.

What: Cedar Lane Family Festival

  • Where: Cedar Lane, Teaneck
  • When: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Why: There will be Memorial Day ceremonies, a performance stage, an operatic competition, eating competitions for both children and adults, a children’s area, arts and crafts booths, local merchants, food vendors and a nonprofit area. An all-around great day out with the family!

What: 36th Annual Fred d'Elia Ridgewood Run

  • Where: Graydon Park, N. Maple Ave, Ridgewood
  • When: Registration begins 7 a.m.
  • Why: Not only is it one of the funnest family runs, but we actually won a trophy in 1983!
