FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — A boil water advisory has been put in place for parts of Freehold Township following a water main break on Tuesday, township officials announced Tuesday evening.
The water main break occurred on Three Brooks Road near Meridian Drive, officials said.
As a precaution, the township has put a boil water advisory in effect to ensure the safety of residents.

If you reside in The Brooks at Freehold development, or on Lenape Trail, Apache Trail, or Navajo Lane, officials are advising:
- Bring tap water to a rolling boil for at least one minute, then let it cool before use
- Safe to bathe/shower, but supervise young children and people with disabilities. Avoid swallowing water or getting it in the eyes
- Do not rely on home filters instead of boiling
- Use boiled or bottled water for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, and washing food
Water testing is underway, and results are expected within 48 hours, officials said.

Another announcement will be made by the township once it's safe to drink tap water again.
