Boil Water Advisory Lifted In Freehold Township

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — A boil water advisory in place for parts of Freehold Township has been lifted, the township announced Thursday afternoon.

As of 4 p.m. on Thursday, township officials said the advisory for residents of The Brooks at Freehold Development, Lenape Trail, Apache Trail and Navajo Lane has been lifted.

Repairs are complete, and officials said water quality tests show that the tap water is safe to drink.

While it's no longer necessary to boil your water before using it, officials are strongly encouraging the following measures:

• Run your water faucets for 3-5 minutes to flush your service connection and interior plumbing with water from the service main
• Empty and clean your automatic ice makers and water chillers
• Drain and refill your hot water heater, if the temperature is set below 113 F
• Run service connections with a water softener/cartridge filters through a regeneration cycle, or follow other procedures as recommended by the manufacturer

"We apologize for any inconveniences and thank you for your patience," township officials said.

The boil water advisory went into effect on Tuesday following a water main break on Three Brooks Road near Meridian Drive.

While water testing was underway and repairs were being made, the township put a boil water advisory in effect as a precaution to ensure the safety of residents.

Now that repairs are complete and testing shows that the tap water is safe to drink, the advisory has been lifted for affected residents.
