MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ — The Drug Enforcement Agency’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is set to take place this weekend, with police departments throughout Monmouth County participating as drop-off locations.
The DEA hosts National Prescription Drug Take Back Day to encourage people to remove unneeded medications from their homes as a way to prevent medication misuse or opioid addiction from starting.
In October 2024, 4,425 law enforcement participated in the event, with a total of 4,644 collection sites and a total weight of 629,953 lbs. collected, according to the DEA website.

For 2025, Take Back Day will occur on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with police departments and agencies participating throughout the country.
