Utility Working On Freehold-Area Power Outages Monday Night

Freehold Township still had a bit over 1,300 outages as of 7 p.m. on Monday night. Freehold Borough was down to 16 outages.

FREEHOLD-FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — JCP&L reported as of Monday evening that 1,341 customers were still affected by power outages in Freehold Township. That is 9 percent of customers, the utility's online update said at 7 p.m.

The main cause of the outage was a broken pole off Route 527, a JCP&L spokesman said.

Freehold Borough had 16 customers affected.

The utility was hopeful power would be restored by later Monday night, said spokesman Chris Hoenig.

He said that earlier in the day the Monmouth County experienced nearly 11,000 outages.

Marlboro is still seeing nearly 2,000 without power. Howell has restored most of its outages.
