Freehold Holiday Candlelight Walking Tour Will Be Dec. 19

The tour will start at the St. Rose of Lima RC Church and include nine other sites along the route.

FREEHOLD, NJ —The Freehold Borough is hosting a holiday candlelight walking tour on Dec. 19.

The event was created to bring awareness to the historic houses of worship in the downtown area to residents and neighboring towns, in commemoration of the Borough Centennial celebration.

The tour will start at the St. Rose of Lima RC Church.

Bethel A.M.E. will welcome participants with songs of the holiday season at the first location. There will be nine other sites along the route. Historic residences along the way will also be mentioned.

The tour will end at the new Crossroads Center at St. Peter’s Church, where refreshments will be served.

The event will be hosted by The Historic Preservation Commission, the Freehold Borough Human Relations Committee, Recreation Commission and the Unity Coalition of Greater Freehold.

Donations will be accepted for Blessing Bag Brigade, with a drop-off available at the first stop or at the Freehold Borough Firehouse.

Masks are requested while inside each of the houses of worship. Social distancing etiquette should also be followed.

Parking will be available at the first stop of the tour.
