Snow Day Called For Freehold Regional Schools

Several inches of snow were expected to fall between Thursday and Friday.

FREEHOLD, NJ — The Freehold Regional High School District announced that schools will be closed on Friday due to the snowfall.

The district initially announced a 90 minute delayed opening in anticipation of the upcoming winter storm.

"We will continue to monitor conditions throughout the night. A final decision on school closure will be made by 5 AM," the district announced in a statement. "In the event of any additional change in schedule for Friday, we will utilize our website, the automated calling system, our social media, and our mobile app to alert the community."

A winter weather advisory was in effect in Monmouth County and the Jersey Shore area was predicted to get 4 to 6 inches of snow overnight, according to the National Weather Service.

The majority of snowfall was set to take place likely take place between 1 and 7 a.m.
