Home Invasion Leaves 2 Injured In Monmouth County

Two injured in Freehold Township home invasion. County prosecutor investigating, but says public not at risk from "targeted" attack.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — A home invasion Monday morning that left two injured was a "targeted incident," county authorities say, and there is not a threat to public safety.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office confirmed that on Dec. 11 at about 2:45 a.m., Freehold Township Police went to Sargent Road for the report of a home invasion.

Two residents of the home were injured. One was treated on scene and the other taken to a local hospital for treatment and was later released.

"We do also want to stress that we believe this was a targeted incident, and that there should be no concern by the public or local residents for their safety," a spokesperson for the prosecutor's office said.

The investigation is active and ongoing at this time between members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Major Crimes Bureau and Freehold Township Police Department, according to the prosecutor's office, and there is no report of an arrest at this time.

The two residents told police there was an altercation of some kind between them and the intruder, according to a report by News 12 New Jersey.
