MoForNovember Raises Most Ever For Freehold Hospital Fundraiser

Teams at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold Township and area police and fire department personnel raise $23K for health initiatives.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — The past month's MoForNovember fundraiser produced the best participation and donations yet for men’s cancer programs and services at CentraState Medical Center, hospital officials said.

CentraState team members and local fire and police departments grew their facial hair for the month of November, raising awareness and donations.

Thanks to their efforts and to sponsors, the hospital beat its goal of raising $13,000 by reaching $23,174, according to the CentraState Healthcare Foundation.

The fundraiser started in 2015, said Nicole Romano, manager of Donor Engagement at CentraState.

When the end of the month comes, some participants choose to keep their new look. Others get a shave, she said.

An example of some fundraising efforts include the Howell Township Police Department. Approximately 50 officers participated in the Howell campaign, raising $3,000 in one month, police there said.

Wall Township Emergency Services teamed up to participate in the campaign. Police officers, firefighters, EMT's, and Wall Mayor Kevin Orender grew facial hair throughout the month in support of the cause and raised $3,200. Participating agencies were: Wall Township Police, South Wall Fire Rescue, Glendola Fire Company, West Belmar Fire Company, Wall First Aid, Wall Community First Aid and Wall EMS, the team said.

Funds raised support screenings, take home kits and opportunities for testing through the Marilyn and Joseph Jacobs Genetic Testing Program at CentraState, the foundation said in a news release.
