Monmouth Commissioners-Elect To Take County Offices Thursday

County Commissioner Ross F. Licitra of Marlboro was re-elected and Mayor Erik Anderson of Shrewsbury was elected to Monmouth County board.

FREEHOLD, NJ — The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners will hold its annual organization meeting at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4, at Biotechnology High School, 5000 Kozloski Road, Freehold Township.

On the agenda will be the swearing-in of Ross F. Licitra and Erik Anderson as members of the Board of County Commissioners, the county announced.

Both were elected to three-year terms in their respective positions in November 2023.

Licitra and Anderson ran as Republicans. They were challenged by Democrats Alison DeNoia and Arthur Schlossbach. The vote totals certified Nov. 22 were:

  • Alison DeNoia, 67,777 or 22.35 percent of the votes cast
  • Arthur Schlossbach, 65,489 or 21.60 percent
  • Erik Anderson, 84,767 or 27.95 percent
  • Ross Licitra: 84,787 or 27.96 percent
  • Write-Ins: 428

The five-member, all-GOP board was led in 2023 by Director Thomas A. Arnone.

Arnone is expected to be named director for 2024, based on the agenda of the organization meeting. The meeting will also name professionals and appoint others to numerous county boards, among other action.

Licitra, of Marlboro, will be sworn into his second term as a commissioner.

Anderson, the Shrewsbury mayor, will be sworn into his first term as commissioner. Anderson replaces longtime Commissioner Lillian G. Burry, who did not seek re-election.

At 2 p.m., the 2023 Board of County Commissioners will hold a meeting in the Hall of Records at 1 E. Main St. to conclude financial and other business matters for 2023. The agenda can be located here.
