Pedestrian Fatally Hit In Freehold Township Accident Is Identified
Authorities said David Belcher, 61, was the man who died on Route 9 in Freehold Township Tuesday, after he was struck by a pick-up truck.
FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — The pedestrian who died Tuesday on Route 9 after he was struck by a pick-up truck has been identified as David Belcher, 61, the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said.
Authorities did not release the hometown of the victim as yet, or other details regarding the accident.
At about 5:35 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9, Freehold Township police were called to the southbound lanes of Route 9, several hundred feet north of the interchange with Route 33, where they found the victim lying in the roadway, according to the prosecutor's office. Belcher was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver, 48, was operating a 2001 Ford F-150 pick-up truck. He remained on the scene, the prosecutor's office said.
No criminal charges have been filed nor traffic summons issued as yet with regard to this incident, the prosecutor's office said.

An investigation by members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and the Freehold Township Police Department is underway.
