Police: Resident reports she received a call asking for information from someone claiming to be a police officer.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — Police are warning residents about what might be an attempted telephone scam in town.

A resident told police this week that she received a few phone calls that appear to come from the Police Department's non-emergency phone line, 732-462-7908.

A person who claimed to be an "officer" on the other end of the line told the resident he was "conducting an investigation" and requested information from the resident.
