2 Hit When Car Swerved To Avoid Crash In South Jersey: Police
One juvenile died when a driver swerved to avoid hitting another car, causing his car to flip and trapping him in his car, police said.
EGG HARBOR TWP., NJ — Two juveniles were hit, killing one, when a driver swerved off the road to avoid a collision with another car Saturday in Egg Harbor Township, police said.
At about 2:20 p.m. on Saturday, a 71-year-old Egg Harbor Township man was driving a 2014 Chevy Camaro east on Delaware Avenue, approaching Fernwood Avenue, when a 2022 Mini Cooper driven by a 19-year-old Egg Harbor Township man entered the intersection from the north, police said in a news release.
The Camaro driver swerved to the right to avoid a collision; however, he went off road and onto the grass shoulder, police said.

When he went off the road, he crashed into two juveniles who were walking home from Bargaintown Park, police said. One of them was fatally injured.
The Camaro flipped, causing the driver to become entrapped, police said.

Volunteers from the Bargaintown, Cardiff and Sculville fire departments were able to extricate him from the driver's seat.
One of the juveniles was taken to Shore Medical Center before being flown to Cooper Medical Center. Despite lifesaving efforts, he died from his injuries at the hospital, police said.
The other had minor injuries and was treated at the scene, police said.
The roadway was shut down for about four hours for investigation. Summonses are pending.
