GALLOWAY, NJ — If you’re like many of your Galloway neighbors, you may spend a good part of the holiday season with your credit card in hand buying gifts for family and friends. Coming up soon is a chance to give back to the local community.
Giving Tuesday, which in 2024 falls on Dec. 3, is a day dedicated to supporting nonprofit and community groups. Since 2012, nonprofits worldwide have used the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to galvanize fundraising, rally volunteers and add momentum to their causes.

Here are five local nonprofits to consider getting behind on Giving Tuesday:
1. The Arc of Atlantic County: This organization helps individuals with disabilities with a variety of services including job training, recreation, housing and more.
2. Seashore Gardens Foundation: A foundation that funds Seashore Gardens Living Center, a home for seniors guided by Jewish tradition, which provides care from assisted living to short and long-term care and more.
3.South Jersey Field of Dreams: Here, kids and adults with mental and physical disabilities can forget their cares and just enjoy a fun sports game.
4. Mental Health Association Atlantic County: The mission of this organization is to help people with mental health disorders reach their full potential without stigma or barriers.
5. Cape-Atlantic Marine Corps League Detachment: This league's mission is to aid current and former Marines and their families and to preserve traditions of Marines.
