Ex-Treasurer Stole $32K From South Jersey Parent-Teacher Organization, Police Say
Khristi Mannery, as Absecon PTO treasurer, stole more than $32,000 of the organization's funds for her own use, police said.
ABSECON, NJ — The former treasurer of the Absecon Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) is accused of stealing more than $32,000 from the organization and depositing it into her personal accounts, Absecon police said.
An investigation into discrepancies in the PTO's financial accounts led to Khristi Mannery, 41, being identified as the suspect, police said. Mannery had served as the PTO's treasurer.
Police were notified this past May that there were financial irregularities in the organization. Investigation found that funds collected during PTO-ran and sponsored events were not deposited into PTO accounts, police said.

Instead, it was determined that Mannery, as treasurer, deposited more than $32,000 of the PTO's funds into her personal accounts for unauthorized personal use, police said.
Mannery was charged with theft by unlawful taking and released on a summons pending a future appearance in Atlantic County Superior Court.
