Flood Warning, Wind Advisory In Effect Friday In Galloway

A Code Blue Alert will also go into effect on Friday. Warming shelters will be open across Atlantic County.

GALLOWAY, NJ β€” It's going to be very cold and very wet in Galloway, with a Coastal Flood Warning, Wind Advisory and Wind Chill Advisory going into effect Friday.

A Wind Advisory starts Thursday at 7 p.m. and lasts until Friday at 7 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. South winds will blow 25 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph expected, according to the NWS. Secure loose objects and travel with caution, as tree branches could blow down and power outages are possible.

A Coastal Flood Warning goes into effect Friday at 4 a.m. and will last until 12 p.m., bringing the potential for widespread roadway flooding in coastal and bayside communities, the NWS said.

Once it gets dark out, a Wind Chill Advisory is set for 6 p.m. on Friday until 10 a.m. Saturday. Wind chills as low as 10 below zero are possible, the NWS said.

Additionally, running from Dec. 23 through Dec. 26, Atlantic County is under a Code Blue Alert, as temperatures are going to be very low. Once the alert begins, you can find countywide warming shelters through nj211.

The alert allows municipalities to help at-risk individuals who may be living outdoors or in poorly insulated settings and are at risk for weather-related exposure and possible death.
