Man Who Fled Police With Stolen Car Charged With Eluding
Eric Von Hess, 38, was taken to the Atlantic County Jail after his arrest

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Galloway police have arrested a township man and charged him with eluding after he fled from police in a stolen vehicle, crashed into a tree and then fled.
Detective Bryan Casey arrested Eric Von Hess, 38, on March 26 and took him to the Atlantic County Justice Facility, said Lt. Joseph P. Picardi.
Officer Steve Garrison stopped Von Hess in a minivan at 8:47 p.m on March 25 on Route 9 and Seaview Ridge Drive. As the officer approached, Von Hess left the scene at a high rate of speed, and crashed into a tree a short time later at Jimmie Leeds Road and New Leaf Court. He then fled into the woods, Picardi said

A search with a Galloway Police K-9 and New Jersey State Police helicopter was undertaken, but he was not immediately apprehended.
Von Hess was previously arrested by the Galloway Township Police Department for eluding police on September 12, 2016.
