Movie Based On NJ Halloween Retailer Releasing In October

The movie, called "Spirit Halloween," is a promotional partnership with the New Jersey-based store of the same name.

EGG HARBOR TWP, NJ — Halloween lovers, rejoice. A movie about the New Jersey retailer, Spirit Halloween, is premiering in October 2022.

The movie, titled "Spirit Halloween," is a family/kids adventure film about the chain costume store that has locations across North America, according to a report by Variety. Starring Christopher Lloyd and Rachael Leigh Cook, the movie explores a mysterious new Spirit Halloween store that shows up in town.

"When a new Spirit Halloween store appears in a deserted strip mall, three middle-school friends who think they’ve outgrown trick-or-treating make a dare to spend the night locked inside the store Halloween night," the logline says, according to Variety. "But they soon find out that the store is haunted by an angry evil spirit who has possessed the creepy animatronic characters. The kids embark on a thrilling and spooky adventure in order to survive the night and avoid becoming possessed themselves."

The movie is a promotional partnership between the retailer and Strike Back Studios, Hideout Pictures and Particular Crowd.

"Spirit Halloween" is directed by David Poag in his directorial debut. The screenplay is by Billie Bates.

The film has wrapped production, with the release date set for October 2022.
