Overnight Closures Of Route 30 Draw Bridge Set: Police

The bridge will raise and stop traffic for half an hour every hour overnight from Feb. 26 through March 1, police said.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — Drivers will want to avoid the Route 30 bridge overnight next week, as work is in store that will be incredibly disruptive.

The overnight construction project on the Route 30 draw bridge over Beach Thorofare, located on Route 30 at milepost 56.77, is part of a larger bridge rehabilitation project by the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT).

NJDOT told Atlantic City police that they would tentatively be conducting the work starting Feb. 26 and through March 1, nightly from 9 p.m. through 5 a.m.

"This work will severely impact motorists entering and exiting Route 30," police said.

During the work, the bridge will be raised and traffic will be stopped on Route 30 in both directions for 30 minutes every hour. New Jersey State Police will be onsite during construction to assist with the lane closures, and Variable Message Signs (VMS) boards have been installed at the bridge to alert motorists of the upcoming closures.

Motorists are advised to use the Atlantic City Expressway or Route 40 during the times of construction.
