Pedestrian Struck, Killed On South Jersey Highway: Police

The woman was killed on Black Horse Pike in Egg Harbor Township Sunday evening, police said.

EGG HARBOR TWP., NJ — A pedestrian was struck and killed on Black Horse Pike in the West Atlantic City section of Egg Harbor Township Sunday evening, police said.

A 1997 Honda Odyssey was driving west on the highway near Toulon Avenue at about 6 p.m. Sunday, Egg Harbor Township police said. The minivan entered the center turn lane and struck 49-year-old Nazma Khatun in the roadway, police said.

Khatun, an Egg Harbor Township resident, was hospitalized and died from her injuries shortly after arrival, police said.

The driver, a 63-year-old Pleasantville man, was uninjured and remained on the scene. No charges have been announced.

The roadway was closed for about three hours during the investigation.

This crash investigation is ongoing, being handled by Sgt. Edward Stearns and Ofc. Robert Moran of the Egg Harbor Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit. Anyone who saw the crash is asked to contact the Traffic Safety Unit at 609-926-2661.
