Record-High Winter Warmth Hit Galloway Wednesday

Temperatures reached 70 degrees in Pomona, making it likely the warmest Jan. 4 on record, according to the National Weather Service.

GALLOWAY, NJ β€” Temperatures soared across New Jersey Wednesday, making for an unseasonably warm early winter day.

And according to the National Weather Service, it could be one of the warmest, at least in Atlantic County.

The warmest Jan. 4 on record from the Atlantic City International Airport, which is in the Pomona section of Galloway, Egg Harbor Township and Hamilton Township, is 68 degrees, according to the NWS. That happened in 1950.

Preliminary NWS data from Wednesday shows that temperatures reached 70 degrees in the area shortly before noon.

If the temperature reading stays to the end of the day, it will be the warmest Jan. 4 on record, according to NWS data.

The warm weather is expected to taper off, with NWS forecasting temperatures in the 50s for Thursday and dropping into the 40s over the weekend.
