Egg Harbor Township Police Use Taser To Restrain Armed Man

Egg Harbor Township police used a taser on an armed township man with outstanding warrants after he refused to cooperate with officers.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NJ — Egg Harbor Township police used a taser on an armed township man with outstanding warrants after he refused to cooperate with officers, police said Tuesday.

Egg Harbor Township Police Department responded to a home on Ivins Avenue in the Cardiff section of the township on Sunday just after 2:15 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers encountered Prentis Blaylock, 34, who was wanted on several warrants, police said.

According to police, Blaylock was uncooperative with officers, exhibited threatening behavior and was armed with a handgun. After negotiations for him to surrender were unsuccessful, police used a taser on Blaylock and took him into custody without incident.

Blaylock has been charged with possession of a handgun, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of hollow point bullets, possession of a large capacity magazine, eluding and obstruction.

Blaylock also had a no-bail warrant for a domestic violence incident that took place in Egg Harbor Township and NCIC warrant for fraud and theft by deception out of Gloucester County.

Blaylock was treated at AtlantiCare City division and lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
