'Waive-Fee Wednesdays' Kick Off At Atlantic County Animal Shelter

Atlantic County hopes to promote dog adoption every Wednesday through Sept. 7.

PLEASANTVILLE, NJ β€” If you're looking to add a furry addition to your family, Wednesday is the perfect day to do so, at least in Atlantic County.

The Atlantic County Animal Shelter has announced "Waive-Fee Wednesdays," where starting on June 7 and continuing through Sept. 7, the shelter is waiving all adoption fees for dogs.

"The goal of our 'Waive-Fee Wednesdays' is to promote dog adoptions," said County Executive Dennis Levinson. "We had great success with our Memorial Day weekend promotion finding homes for 8 dogs and 9 cats. We hope to build upon that success with these weekly canine promotions."

The normal adoption fee for a dog is $110.

All adopted dogs receive mandatory sterilization, age-appropriate vaccinations, diagnostic testing, a microchip and a free veterinary consultation as well as two free obedience classes.

Those interested in taking advantage of this opportunity should call the shelter to make an appointment at (609) 485-2345.

The shelter is located at 240 Old Turnpike Road in Pleasantville and is open to the public by appointment seven days a week, 1-4 p.m.
