Dead Person Found On Ben Franklin Bridge Caused Traffic Delays: Police

Lane closures from police activity caused massive delays for several hours.

CAMDEN, NJ — A dead person was found Thursday morning on the Ben Franklin Bridge, sparking a police investigation that created extensive traffic delays, officials said.

Just before 5 a.m., police responded to reports of an individual found on the bridge's westbound side, which brings commuters from Camden to Philadelphia, according to the Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA).

The male decedent hasn't been identified. DRPA police and the Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office continue to investigate.

As investigators processed the scene, officials closed lanes until 9:20 a.m. Closures included lanes on both sides of the bridge.
