MLK Day Of Service In Gloucester Twp. To Aid Community Causes

Plenty of volunteer opportunities are available on Martin Luther King Jr. Day​.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Gloucester Township is holding a "Day of Service" on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, when residents can volunteer for various causes.

The day of service will convene Monday morning at Charles W. Lewis Middle School. It will begin with registration and a continental breakfast, followed by a presentation.

At 10 a.m., attendees will depart for the volunteer activity they signed up for. Activities will run until noon.

Members of the public can register online to choose a volunteer activity. Many of the options have filled up, so the sooner you sign up, the better.

  • CPR Training: Friends and Family CPR. Inspira will provide a two-hour CPR class. (limit of 30) (Activity takes place at CW Lewis Middle School)
  • Giggle Books: Create small booklets with playful jokes, nursery rhymes, silly faces, etc. Donate them to a hospital for children. (at CW Lewis Middle School)
  • Gloucester Township Senior Campus Center: Bingo and Valentine’s Day card making with the seniors. (at Senior Campus Center in the Lakeland Complex)
  • Shades of Worship Church: Aid to Jamaica – Help pack shipping containers to assist families and friends affected by the recent hurricane in Jamaica. (at Shades of Worship Church – 2746 Erial Road, Erial)

Here's the MLK Day of Service schedule for Monday:

  • 8:30 a.m.: registration and continental breakfast
  • 9:15 a.m.: program and presentation
  • 10 a.m.: departure for Day of Service activities
  • 12 p.m.: Day of Service activities conclude

Charles W. Lewis Middle School is located at 875 Erial Rd., Blackwood.
