GLOUCESTER, NJ - A Tuesday afternoon crash that resulted in an overturned hydraulic crane truck, a Subaru striking a tree and mass traffic delays on Little Gloucester Road is under investigation, authorities said.

At around 1:34 p.m., Gloucester Township Police were dispatched to Little Gloucester Road near Golfview Drive for a report of a crash involving an overturned tractor trailer with a vehicle into a tree and utility pole down (see photos below), police said in a statement.

At the scene, a 60-ton hydraulic crane truck was found laying across the roadway on the driver's side and blocking traffic, police said. A second vehicle involved, a 2015 Toyota Camry, was found off the roadway against a tree with airbags deployed.

Both drivers were able to leave their vehicles before emergency services arrived, police said. Both drivers were taken to Jefferson Stratford for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

An initial investigation found that the hydraulic crane truck, owned by West Deptford-based Dobbs Crane Rental, was heading northbound on Little Gloucester Road when a section of the "swingaway extension arm" dislodged and struck a utility line brace pole, police said.

The extension arm then became stuck into the ground as the truck continued forward, ultimately causing the truck to overturn onto the driver's side, police said. The Toyota Camry, which was traveling in the opposite direction, quickly veered to the right to avoid a collision, prompting the vehicle to travel off road, up a hill and into a tree.

Little Gloucester Road was closed for about five hours, police said. The investigation is ongoing by members of the Gloucester Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit.
