Woman Dies As SUV Flips In Gloucester County Pond

MONROE TOWNSHIP, NJ — A woman was found dead Saturday when a Kia SUV ran off the road and flipped over into a pond in Gloucester County, police said.

The 26-year-old woman from Franklin Township was found when a passing motorist called Monroe Township police about 9:10 a.m. about a 2025 Kia Sportage upside down in the water near West Malaga Road (C.R. 659) and Bracken Drive, police said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Authorities said the investigation showed the Kia was headed east on West Malaga Road when it slid sideways and rotated on the icy road about 650 feet west of Bracken Drive. The Kia then ran off the road to the right and turned over before coming to rest on its roof in the water, police said.

Police had not determined an approximate time of the crash.
