1 Dead, 2 Injured In Warren County I-80 Crash Into Tree

A passenger died in a weekend crash on I-80 in Warren County after a car hit a tree Sunday morning, authorities said.

KNOWLTON, NJ - A passenger died in a weekend crash on I-80 in Warren County, authorities said.

At around 8:42 a.m. on Sunday, a crash at I-80 westbound milepost 8.4 in Knowlton was reported, a spokesperson for New Jersey State Police said.

An initial investigation revealed a Toyota Venza was traveling west on I-80 when it traveled off the left side of the road and hit a tree. The front seat passenger sustained fatal injuries, state police said.

The identification of the front seat passenger was not released as of Monday morning.

Two back seat passengers, a 28-year-old from Williamsville, New York and a 28-year-old from Charlotte, North Carolina sustained serious injuries, state police said.

The driver, a 27-year-old from Cheektowaga, N.Y., sustained moderate injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
