Haddonfield's 4th Of July Fireworks Canceled Due To 'Financial Constraints'

HADDONFIELD, NJ — Haddonfield will not host Independence Day fireworks this year, the borough announced Tuesday.

The community typically gathers for fireworks on July 3. But the annual tradition is canceled for this year because of "financial constraints," according to an advisory on the borough's app.

Haddonfield still plans to hold its annual 4th of July Parade, followed by a new event: a Borough Block Party featuring live music, interactive games and food trucks.

"We looked for a way to continue bringing the community together after the annual parade," the borough's announcement said, "and we are excited to host a Borough Block Party following the parade."

Haddonfield's Fourth of July festivities are sponsored by the Haddonfield Celebrations Association, a volunteer nonprofit. The group distributed a mailer to residents in April in a bid for donations to keep the borough's holiday traditions alive.

"Our beloved traditions rely on generous contributions from residents like you," the organization said. "To keep the magic alive year after year, we need your help. Every little bit helps keep the traditions going strong for generations to come!"

The Haddonfield Celebrations Association also sponsors the Halloween Parade, along with the Tree Lighting Ceremony and Santa Parade.

The 4th of July Parade starts at 10 a.m. on Independence Day in Downtown Haddonfield, followed by the Block Party from 12-3 p.m.
