Camden County's Own 'Mummers Parade' Is Coming To Haddon Township
The magic of the Philadelphia Mummers will soon cross the Delaware River for Camden County's inaugural String Band Parade.

HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ — Why should Philadelphia have all the fun? The magic of the Philadelphia Mummers will soon cross the Delaware River for Camden County's inaugural String Band Parade.
The parade will travel down Haddon Avenue from 2-4 p.m. April 29. Fifteen string bands will perform along the route, bringing a taste of the long-running Philadelphia Mummers Parade to South Jersey.
"Our organization is so excited to bring this wonderful tradition over to Camden County," said Sam Regalbuto, president of the Philadelphia String Band Association, "and put a new spin on something that so many of us from the Philadelphia/South Jersey area hold near and dear to our hearts."

The Mummers Parade — one of the nation's oldest continuous folk parades — occurs each New Year's Day in Philadelphia, going back to 1901. The String Band Parade will bring elements of the tradition to Camden County, and local officials don't expect the event to become a tradition, as well.
"This will be an exciting event that will not only stimulate our local economy but will provide some fun for our residents and their families," said County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli Jr. "We expect the String Band Parade to become a staple here in our community for years to come."
