Downtown Haddonfield Provides Backdrop For Lifetime Movie
"Death Saved My Life," with Downtown Haddonfield serving as the backdrop, debuts on Lifetime Feb. 13.
HADDONFIELD, NJ — Downtown Haddonfield will be on the national stage Valentine’s Day Weekend. The downtown will appear as a backdrop for several scenes in the movie, “Death Saved My Life,” which will air on Lifetime at 8 p.m. Feb. 13.
The scenes were shot from November through mid-December, according to the Partnership for Haddonfield. It was chosen because of its charming, small-town appeal and unbeatable scenic features, the organization responsible for promoting the downtown said in a release.
New Jersey Motion Picture and TV Commission Executive Director Steven Gorelick took a tour of Haddonfield that was hosted by the Partnership for Haddonfield and its PR agency Suasion Communications Group in 2018.

“Haddonfield is a very charming and beautiful town, just ideal for the movies. The architecture has a timeless quality to it, making Haddonfield a perfect example of small-town America,” Gorelick said. “That's the very look that the producer of ‘Death Saved My Life’ was seeking, and I am certain that many other movies and television programs will soon follow. The cooperation from Haddonfield officials and residents was terrific.”
“We are so grateful for this wonderful opportunity to showcase our picturesque Downtown to a nationwide audience,” Haddonfield Mayor Neal Rochford said. “We were more than happy to accommodate the request to feature our Downtown in this feature film, and assist in any way we could.”

The movie will continue to run on Lifetime after its Feb. 13 debut. The synopsis, as posted on Lifetime’s website, reads as follows:
“On the surface it seems Jade (Meagan Good) has it all, a successful marketing career, a husband admired and respected in the community, and a young daughter they both dote on. But behind closed doors, her life is far from idyllic. Her husband Ed (Chiké Okonkwo) is a controlling man who is physically and psychologically abusive. When Jade decides to leave Ed he tells her “If I can’t have you, nobody will,” a threat which becomes very real when she discovers he has hired someone to kill her. Knowing no one will believe her, Jade realizes the only way to escape Ed is to make him believe the hitman completed the job and that she is dead. La’Myia Good plays Jade’s sister Leigh.”
