Haddon Township Library Closing Early For Staff Shortages

The Haddon Township Library is closing at 5 p.m. Thursday, due to staffing shortages related to the coronavirus pandemic.

HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Haddon Township Library is closing at 5 p.m. Thursday, due to staffing shortages related to the coronavirus pandemic, Camden County officials announced Thursday afternoon.

The branch, located at 15 MacArthur Boulevard, is one of three Camden County Library branches that will see modified hours due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Bellmawr branch will also close at 5 p.m., and the Nilsa Perez Branch in Camden will be open from noon to 8 p.m.

“These branches are currently experiencing staffing challenges,” Commissioner Melinda Kane, liaison to the Camden County Library System, said. "We will continue to keep our patrons and the community up to date on any further changes to the schedule of these branches.”

In response to the surge of Covid-19 cases, the Camden County Library System has resumed its curbside services for the next two weeks. These services will end indoor use of the facilities to ensure proper public health protocols and procedures are in place because of the spike in cases in the county and the state. Over the last week, Camden County has seen about 1,100 new coronavirus cases per day, and more than 1,100 Camden County residents are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, according to officials. Fourteen coronavirus-related deaths were reported in Camden County last week.

On Thursday, there were 1,210 new cases reported countywide, including 23 in Haddon Township. Since the pandemic began, there have been 80,906 cases and 1,408 deaths countywide.
