HADDONFIELD, NJ — Jamie Lee Curtis says she's done with the "Halloween" franchise after the latest installment, "Halloween Kills."

Her character, Laurie Strode, has been fighting the monstrous Michael Myers for 44 years and many movies. And Strode's neighbors in a fictionalized Haddonfield are done with her, as well.

Director David Gordon Green said the town has "decomposed" in the four years since the last movie took place, largely due to Myers' violence. They see Curtis' character as responsible for The Boogeyman's latest killing spree, from last year's film "Halloween Kills."

"The entire town of Haddonfield has turned against Laurie Strode, the innocent victim whose life was brutalized by Michael Myers," said Green in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

The Haddonfield of the movies is in Illinois, not South Jersey. But Debra Hill, the original producer and cowriter for the franchise, was born there and used the town's name in the movie to pay homage, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Hill died of cancer in 2005, at the age of 54.

When Myers returns once again, Laurie must face off against her old nemesis for what appears to be the final time.

The quiet neighborhood setting reminds viewers that Halloween horror can happen anywhere — even in a town like Haddonfield.
