New Acting Police Chief For Haddon Heights Is Sworn-In

HADDON HEIGHTS, NJ — Dozens watched as Thomas Schneider was sworn in as acting Police Chief of Haddon Heights on Sept. 6.

Schneider replaces Michael Scardino, who retired on Aug. 26 after 18 years with the Haddon Heights Police Department.

Many at the meeting spoke fondly of the outgoing chief's tenure with the department, including Haddon Heights Mayor Zachary Houck.

"Thank you for your faithful and selfless service to this community and our surrounding communities," Houck said. "To reach the milestone of retirement is a huge achievement. But more importantly, to do so as the senior member of the Haddon Heights Police Department, that is something to be proud of."

Others noted how the borough will do under Schneider's leadership, such as Haddon Heights Council Member Trish Egbert.
